Matthias Gassner: Erosion

AT I (Chapter: Dissecting landscapes); 2019, Acryl/Ink on paper 30cm*21cm

According to Asfinag Database 6890 trucks per day used the highway A13 (a highway crossing the Alps from Austria to Italy) in the year 2017.

Precipitation V (Chapter: Precipitation change) 2020, Acryl/Ink on paper 30cm*21cm

Due to climate change an increased elevation of snow reliability of about 150m per 1° warming is expected in the alps (Formayer, H., Kromp-Kolb, H.,2009).

Erosion XXV (Chapter: Erosion) 2019, Acryl/Ink on paper 30cm*21cm

Raindrop impact and surface flow trigger the downstream movement of soil particles by the process of of rainfall-induced soil erosion. Waterdrop size is very important in this context (Vilayvong K., et al., 2016).

Erosion XXVI (Chapter: Touristic Alpine transformation); 2019, Acryl/Ink on paper 30cm*21cm

On 18th of October 2019 the ski-season in Kitzbühel/Austria starts with a disturbing event. Plus 15 degrees.

Am 18. Oktober 2019 startet die Skisaison in Kitzbühel. Skieröffnung bei plus 15°. Werbewert und Nachhaltigkeit auf Kollisionskurs.

Erosion XLI; Chapter: Habitat change) 2019, Acryl/Ink on paper 30cm*21cm

Model projections suggest substantial habitat losses in mountains of limited vertical extent (Engler R., et al., 2010).
